THE PRESENCE OF WOMEN AS FACULTY IN THE ELECTRICAL FIELD IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND ENGINEERING

Resumo

This article investigates the presence of women in teaching positions within the electrical field, focusing on Professional and Technological Education (PTE) and engineering in Brazil. Using an integrative literature review methodology supported by a bibliometric study, which combines quantitative statistical data analysis with a qualitative analysis of publications, the study examines the challenges and barriers faced by women in this predominantly male field. The results reveal the influence of factors such as family support in career choice, the difficulty of balancing personal and professional responsibilities, and the persistence of gender stereotypes that affect women's inclusion in the field. The research also highlights the underrepresentation of women in teaching positions, emphasizing the need for policies and practices that promote gender equity and more inclusive environments. It concludes that promoting the recognition of women's contributions is crucial for advancing professions in the electrical field.
