Abstract

The aim of this study was to demonstrate, through a literature review, the importance of computational tools such as CAD / CAE / CAM in the layout elaboration in the food industry and in the importance for the development of the product customization strategy. These tools help to visualize the layout or final product, in handling and making decisions. The described software contributes to the reduction of the elaboration time and to the improvement of the quality of the project, besides the improvement in the communication and presentation of the idea of ​​the layout, providing agility in the creation, modification and movement. A review was developed based on the chronological evolution of the resources that enhance the layout elaboration. It was noticed that the tools studied CAD / CAE / CAM allow the identification of potential problems before construction, provide greater precision in the project, facilitate the optimization of plant resources increasing its efficiency. These systems can be applied to all types of industries, in particular, the food industry, in which it is possible to build a layout that allows an adequate, flexible flow of operations and that provides security to employees. In addition, the use of CAD / CAE / CAM software allows the production of parts with specific design that can be used both for the elaboration of parts and for the production of customized lines, something widely applied in the food industries.
