Abstract

For an organization to function properly, persons need to be aligned with a common goal which is possible through People Management. A strong feature of a human being, as social element, is to build social networks, to organize people to tackle different tasks, which influence individual decisions and, as a consequence, influence People Management. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how the process of building social networks acts on People Management and, in the specific, influences the recruiting and selecting process. All the collaborators of an organization exchange capital with the organization and among each other, mainly social capital. Networking represents the potential capacity to attract and conserve attention from people and organizations, through maintenance and expansion of his network of contacts and relations. This network of relations can offer help to other people in professional reallocation or in services sales, and, however, must integrate his set of skills. The acquisition of a new collaborator may bring new experiences and knowledge to the organization that may result in a competitive advantage. The methodology used in this research can be characterized as: descriptive, qualitative, bibliographic and documental. The conclusion is that networking is one of the most important tools of divulgation and exchange of talents, abilities, resources and information. Networking is an important aid in the process of aggregating people in the contemporary organizations because it is a security net and provide access to opportunities.
