The high market competitiveness has demanded companies to add quality to their products in order to achieve high-performance minimize waste and reduce the cost of the final product. In this context emerges the methodology of Statistical Process Control (SPC). Companies that make use of SPC require specific software, which involves performing statistical calculations, construction of graphs, and measurement of process capability, among other needs. They need to provide financial resources to purchase a license for their use; this cost is often passed on to the final product. The purpose of this work is to employ a free and open computing environment that is available on the World Wide Web, known as Language R or Software R, to carry out the SPC gratuitously. In this paper, we demonstrate the applicability of SPC via Software R within the industrial context. Areal data set related to the surface texture of axles manufactured by machining process is presented in detail.
