With the aim of integrating the contributions to the “by competences” curricular approach to the teaching-learning process in higher education, the concepts of competences will be discussed considering that they corroborates for a curriculum intended as a path and journey aimed at achieving a significant learning. The contemporary professional must reflect about technological innovation and also about socioeconomic aspects, as well as being flexible and able of interacting in the global world of technology. Thus in addition, the teaching characterized by a conservative educational practice, repetitive and uncritical needs to be replaced by a teaching based on an innovative pedagogical practice, critical and ethics. Students need no longer to be passive bystanders to the educational process but become producers of knowledge. Learning must be meaningful, challenging, stimulating, challenging at the point of encouraging the student and the group to look for possible solutions to be discussed and finalized in the light of theoretical and practical references. We live in the information and knowledge society where the dramatic scientific and technological progress demands, increasingly, the updating and professionalizing of society and dictate a fast pace, where higher levels of education together with technical and interpersonal skills are needed, as mentioned here.
