Milk is a nutrient-rich food and is therefore widely consumed in the country. Its quality is extremely important for consumer safety. Antimicrobial residues may be present in milk if proper management is not performed in the administration of veterinary drugs for the treatment of dairy cattle, thus representing a risk to human health and generating losses in the industrialization of dairy products. This study aimed to evaluate the presence of antimicrobials in samples of fresh milk from rural properties located in western Santa Catarina using Delvotest® T. Milk samples were collected from October to December 2021. 55 samples collected, 9.1% were positive for antimicrobial residues, indicating the need for greater control in the antimicrobial administration process, as well as control of the grace period and periodic laboratory analysis. The study allowed the detection of antimicrobial contamination in the milk sampled and emphasizes the importance of monitoring and controlling the use of these antimicrobials in rural properties in order to guarantee food safety.
